Rose Flowers

The most delicate and appealing flower which has been around for around thirty million years now, is the rose. Grown naturally throughout North America the rose is the official flower of the United States of America. Roses come in many different types with some of the most popular ones being the hybrid tea rose, grandiflora, floribunda, climber, tree and miniature. Each type of rose has its own different colors as well.

Like every flower has its own symbolism, the rose too has its own meaning according to every different color. Red is the most popular color roses are bought in and red roses symbolize love and beauty. A single red rose, when given, would mean 'I love you.' Pink roses stand for admiration, appreciation and friendship. Yellow roses represent happiness, joy and care. White roses symbolize purity and innocence.

When arrangements are exchanged more than one color of roses are often used which symbolize different meanings. For example; red and white roses when given together symbolize unity, red and yellow together symbolize happiness and white and yellow roses represent harmony.

The rose has many different uses and the first one is being used as a gift to send across special messages to your loved ones, especially on Valentine's Day. This is the most common day for exchanging roses and sales in America rise up to over 200 million only for this special day of love and emotions. Anniversaries, birthdays and Mother's Day are other common occasions on which roses are exchanged.

Roses are used to make many medicines as well. A special part of this flower called the rose hip is considered to have a high amount of Vitamin C in it as compared to many fruits and vegetables. This special type of flower has a cooling effect on the body and can be used to relieve one of a sore throat, runny nose or chest infections. They also have a soothing effect on the mind and can be used to treat depression and anxiety.

This multi-purpose flower is also edible and used in a majority of kitchens in different forms. They can be used fresh, dried or preserved and are also used to make herbal teas and Rose Water.

Another major use of the rose flower is in cosmetics whether its perfumes, lotions, shampoos or different types of make-up. Other common uses of this flower include decoration purposes, especially on weddings, honeymoons and romantic dinners.

Roses have also been a major source of inspiration for many great poets and artists because of their uniqueness and natural beauty. You can easily find an unlimited amount of poems, paintings and quotes related to them in every culture. Its sweet-smell and delicate petals can captivate the mind and sooth the heart bringing out great ideas and thoughts.
